Two ULFA militants killed in encounter

Nalbari, Aug 27 (PTI) Two United Liberation Front of
Asom (ULFA) militants were Thursday killed in an encounter
with security forces in Nalbari district of India's
north-eastern state of Assam, official sources said here.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of the army and
police launched a search and cordon off operation in Jarpaluk
village since Wednesday night.

The militants in a bid to escape opened fire at the
forces Thursday morning. In the ensuing gunfight, the duo were
killed.

One of the militants has been identified, they said,
adding a pistol with several rounds of ammunitions and some
documents were recovered from the slain militants. PTI
