JIBRIL`S FATHER VISITS POLICE HQ FOR THIRD TIME
Jakarta, Aug 27 (ANTARA) - Abu Jibril, the father of Mohammad Jibril who was arrested for alleged involvement in terrorism funding, came to the National Police Headquarters on Thursday to inquire about his son's whereabouts.
Abu Jibril's visit to the National Police Headquarters on Thursday was the third he had made since his son's arrest a few days ago.
When he came to the Police Headquarters on Tuesday and Wednesday, Abu Jibril failed to meet his son who was arrested by the police anti-terror Detachment-88 on Tuesday.
This time, Abu Jibril was accompanied by around 10 activists of the Indonesian Mujahidin Council (MMI), an umbrella organization of several Indonesian Islamic groups.
Meanwhile, MMI spokesman Irfan Awwas said Abu and the MMI activists had come to the Police Headquarters to meet Mohammad Jibril.
"Mohamad Jibril has a family and a clear address but why have the police arrested him. Therefore, we want a clarification from the National Police chief," Irfan said.
The police on Wednesday examined Mohamad Jibril for his alleged involvement in terrorism funding.
Mohamad Jibril was alleged to be involved in funding terrorism along with Al Khalil Ali, a Saudi national who was taken into police custody earlier.
The police had earlier put Jibril on their wanted list in connection with the bombings of two luxury hotels in Jakarta last July 17 that left nine people dead including the two suicide bombers and more than 50 others wounded.
In connection with the bombings at the JW Marriott and Ritz-Carlton hotels the police have so far held two suspects namely Aris and Hendra, who were caught in Temanggung, Central Java.
Meanwhile, two other suspects - Eko Sarjono and Air Setiawan - were killed during a raid at a house used as their hideout in Jatiasih, Bekasi.
Another suspect, Ibrahim, was killed during a raid on a house in Temanggung, Central Java.
The two suicide bombers at the two hotels were known as Dani and Nana. Police are now still searching four suspects in connection with the bombings. One of them is believed to have recruited Dani and Nana. ***
