Cooler conditions aid NSW fire crews

Authorities hope cooler overnight conditions will allow firefighters to strengthen
control lines around several bushfires burning out of control on the NSW south
coast.
Strong, erratic winds which fanned three blazes in the Shoalhaven area and one at
Eurobodalla, eased late on Saturday.
But the Rural Fire Service fears flare-up on Sunday with winds forecast to pick up
again from a different direction - the west and south west.
"Conditions are not expected to be as bad as today but wind changes could change the
direction of the fire," a RFS spokesman said.
"We are advising residents to take precautions and be prepared."
The fires have blackened about 1500 hectares of national park, state forest and
private property.
A bushfire emergency was declared for both areas on Saturday.
A blaze near Romney Park Rd, in the Shoalhaven area caused the most concern.
Firefighters backburned near the Princes Hwy to try to contain the fire, which
spread in an easterly direction late on Saturday.
Outbreaks at Termeil Creek, about four kilometres north of Termeil, and at Burrier,
about 14 kilometres west of Nowra, are also burning out of control.
No homes are under direct threat but residents on Romney Park Rd, Wheelbarrow Rd,
Pothole Rd and the Princes Hwy have been advised to take precautions and prepare
their properties.
The Eurobodalla fire, which flared up on Thursday in national park and state forest
about 3km west of Central Tilba, spread east and southeast late on Saturday.
Residents in Punkally Tibla Rd, Single Hut Rd (Old Highway), Ridge Rd, Mt Dromedary
Trail, Meads Rd, and at Central Tilba, Tilba Tilba, Couria and Dignams Creek areas
are also advised to prepare their properties for fire.
