45 people test positive for swine flu in Delhi
New Delhi, Aug 29 (PTI) Forty-five more people have
tested positive for swine flu in India's national capital New
Delhi, raising the total number of such cases to 616 in the
city.
"Swab tests of 45 samples tested positive for swine flu.
With this the total number of swine flu cases admitted in
designated hospitals has reached 616," Delhi Health Minister
Kiran Walia said.
The nodal-officer in charge of swine flu cases in Delhi,
Dr Anjan Prakash said, "Of the 45 samples that tested
positive, 15 are that of children. These test results are of
old samples collected some time back. The NICD is clearing the
backlog."
Meanwhile, four private pathology laboratories are
conducting tests of samples of suspected swine flu patients.
"If any case tests positive, they have to report to the
nodal officers here," a Delhi Health ministry official said.
"By doing so, the government will be able to have full
details of total number of patients affected by H1N1 virus as
well as ensuring their treatment and tracing their contacts,"
Walia said. PTI SWT
