"Participants will have sailing experiences along Lovina beach while observing dolphins in the sea. 15 boats are already at the location now," Dewi, a spokesperson for the event's organizer, Yayasan Cinta Bahari Indonesia, said here on Wednesday.

Among the countries to participate in the event are Australia, US, Britain, France, Germany, Canada, South Africa, Japan, Malaysia and the Phillippines.

Meanwhile, the head of Buleleng district's culture and tourism office, Putu Tastra Wijaya, said the region had hosted Sail Indonesia twice before. He promised Sail Indonesia 2009 would be one of this year's spectacular events in Bali.

Putu hoped Sail Indonesia would also have a positive effect on the life of local residents, especially traders and handicraft makers.

"The event will send a mesage to the world that Bali is a safe and good place to visit," he said.

Nyoman Suma Argawa, the head of the Buleleng district's culture and tourism office's promotion unit, said the office would also organize several side events during Sail Indonesia 2009, namely a painting and handicraft exhibition, a show of the Sweta Bangkaja, Gita Bahari and Megrumbungan dances and a Gerumbungan cow performance.

"We will also take participants to famous tourist objects in Buleleng district such as the Banjar hot springs, the Buda temple, Sambangan village and a vineyard. We want all participants to witness Buleleng's potentials and promote them in their home countries," he said.
