Yemen, AL agree ' dialog to contain Saada crisis'
CAIRO, Sep. 02 (Saba) - Yemen and the Arab League have agreed dialogue as the best way to contain the situation in northern Yemen where fierce clashes between the government forces and the Houthi rebels have
displaced thousands of people.
Secretary General of the Arab League Amr Moussa said
said
to the Egyptian Al-Sharq Al-Awsat Newspaper he met with Yemen's Foreign Minister on
Tuesday in Libya's capital, Tripoli. The two-hour meeting ended with a united
position
that dialogue should be the best way to deal with the situation in Saada and some
parts of Amran, he told reporters. Moussa hopes the dialogue can help reach a
ceasefire
for confrontations that started early last month, with the army launching an
offensive against the rebels prompted by rebel continuous violence and lawbreaking.
There are
no precise statistics of casualties until now, but the army says the Houthi
followers have suffered big losses during the military operations. FR
