4th Almaty forum of NGO’s
Almaty, September 05 2009, Khabar - Nongovernmental Organisations of Almaty are now getting prepared for the 4th civil forum which is to take place in Astana in October. The list of the event’s delegates who will take floor at the meeting has already been made public.
Usen Bayan, chairman, Anuarbek Usenov International Charity Foundation:
- I have always been backing the idea of granting NGO’s controlling functions so they can take part in some research activities held by state bodies because there very many complaints from the general public about it.
According to MP Aigul Solovyova, who is also in charge of the Civil Alliance of Kazakhstan, previous meetings in Astana gave a boost to constructive dialogue between NGO’s and the government. Thanks to such work the republic’s law granted official status to nongovernmental organisations while NGO’s are exempt from VAT and corporate tax. The Almaty mayor supported many proposals from NGO’s and added some of his own ideas.
Akhmetzhan Yesimov, Almaty Mayor:
- It is necessary to make this forum a regular event. It is also vital to carry out such work on the basis of the NGO council on cooperation and interaction. It should be operating at its fullest extent. It should also be a mobile one. Its main aim is to be a unit linking the government and the city’s NGO’s.
The mayor of Almaty also said he is always ready for constructive dialogue for which there is a web site where anyone can post a question and get an answer to it. Moreover, Akhmetzhan Yesimov, as the head of the Almaty Nur Otan Office, holds weekly meetings with city residents.
