Film “Birzhan Sal” is released in Kazakhstan
Almaty, September 05 2009, Khabar - It is a historical drama about life of legendary Kazakh singer, composer and poet Birzhan Kozhagulov. The actors who played in this film and team that shot the cinema were welcomed in front of one of Almaty cinema with applauses, flowers and red carpet. The film was made for 3 years since the time of appearing this idea. The film creators say the film demonstrates difficulty of choice between pride and humility, dignity and humiliation, and attempt to show life of Kazakh people at the end of 19th century, its traditions and customs. It is also history of last love and loneliness. Film became a surprise for spectators and debut – for film director. Actor of theater and cinema Doskhan Zholzhaksynov played the main role and was film director.
Doskhan Zholzhaksynov, film director, performer of main role:
- During dubbing I had to find exact intonation, timbre and intonation belonging to Lyailim and her playing. Thanks God, we found it. Bota played perfectly feelings of Lyailim, especially in farewell bidding scene. Usually the actors of theater cry very much and our Lyailim performed a reserved parting with Birzhan.
Asha Matai, performer of main role:
- Of course, it was difficult to perform love for an adult man. In film my age was 16 and I loved Birzhan who was 60. In reality today it is impossible to love the man of such age but I had to play. I had to feel it in my heart and soil and I think I managed to play well.
The film was shot for 5 months in Akmola region, homeland of Birzhan sal and the budget of film is a little bit over $3 millions. Several settlements with real yurts were set up in a picturesque area and villagers played in crowd scenes. The creators of film wanted to express peculiarities of life and atmosphere of that period and many documents of archives were studied for this. “Kazakhfilm” studio says five more films will be released before the end of this year.
Yermek Amanshayev, president of “Kazakhfilm” JSC of Aimanov:
- Our task is to make at least 1 million people to watch Kazakhstani films beginning from the first projects, which were already demonstrated. Last year a little bit over 300 000 people watched Kazakhstani films and about 10 films were released.
