Motor rally “Friendship of people”

Almaty, September 05 2009, Khabar - International motor rally “Friendship of people 2009” has started in Astana for the first time during history of this project. Its organizers are “Mercur Auto” company and “Volkswagen” concern dedicated the rally to the famous motor race “Dakar” one of series of which will be held on territory of Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan and it is titled as Silk Way Rally 2009. “Friendship of people 2009” is 5th international race. Silk Way Rally 2009 will start in Kazan, then go to Uralsk and end in Ashgabat. And the participants of motor rally “Friendship of people” will race in the northern part of Kazakhstan by six automobiles of “Volkswagen Tuareg” and meet with racers of Silk Way Rally 2009 in Uralsk on September 7.

Kanat Akishev, director general of “Mercur Auto”:
- This time we specially hold race in Northern Kazakhstan as we want to show how our cars will function in northern region of our country.

“Mercur Auto” company has been holding such races since 2004 under the support of “Volkswagen” concern. “Kulan Oil” company and “Mobil 1” brand and “Centras Insurance” company supported the project this year. The participants of the race will have to cover over 2000 km to Uralsk and test jeeps for firmness, speed and passability. They must arrive to Uralsk on September 6.
