VILLAGE HEADS HELPING ILLEGAL TO OBTAIN MYKAD TO BE SACKED

TUARAN (Malaysia), Sept 7 (Bernama) -- Village heads helping illegal
immigrants to obtain MyKad in Sabah will be sacked and legal action will be
taken against them.

East Malaysia state of Sabah Local Government and Housing Minister Hajiji
Noor said Mykad was a special privilege meant for Malaysian citizens and illegal
immigrants were not eligible to apply for it.

He said this to reporters on Sunday when asked to comment on the claim by
Sabah People Justice Party (PKR) deputy head, Kong Hong Ming last week that
there were efforts to register illegal immigrants in Kampung Kalabakan Tengah in
Sabah's Tawau district to apply for MyKad as reported in the local media
recently.

Hajiji said the allegation would be investigated and if it were proven to be
true, action would be taken against those involved.
