Illegal selling of land
Almaty, September 09 2009, Khabar - Sentence on so called land swindlers has been declared in Alatau district of Almaty. The residents of the district were also invited to the court where three people were sentenced. During two years they sold land lots using counterfeit documents and earned several tens of thousands of dollars from this.
Bagdad Manzorov, mayor of Alatau district of Almaty:
- They introduced themselves as officials of land committee, municipal administration and presented counterfeit documents. Most people believed them and bought forged decisions even without original seal. That’s why we hold the first trial and invited people in order they know about such crimes.
One of the tasks of leadership of new district is fighting illegal seizing of land lots and counteraction to illegal operations with real estate. 24 criminal cases were begun this year on such facts.
Bauyrzhan Makulbayev, prosecutor of Alatau district of Almaty:
- Swindling has large scales and it puts us on the guard. The damage from 7 considered cases is over $400 000. And damage from today’s three cases is $45 000. That’s why today it is the greatest evil in our district.
The court sentenced Kashaganova, Orazbayev and Medetbekov for 5-7 years of imprisonment with confiscation of their property for criminal operations with land.
