MALAYSIAN KING RECEIVES CREDENTIALS OF SEVEN NEW ENVOYS

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 10 (Bernama) -- Seven newly posted foreign envoys
presented their credentials to King Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Thursday at the
National Palace here.

They are Republic of Seychelles High Commissioner Philippe Le Gall;
Bangladesh High Commissioner A.K.M Atiqur Rahman; Republic of Djibouti
Ambassador Ahmed Araita Ali; Hellenic Republic (Greece) Ambassador Dimitri
Tsikouris; Argentine Ambassador Maria Isabel Rendon; Thailand Ambassador Thana
Duangratana and the Netherlands Ambassador Paulus Peter Jozef Bekkers.

Le Gall, 55, who is resident in Beijing, is also the Seychelles ambassador
to China while Rahman was previously Bangladesh's ambassador to Bhutan.

Araita Ali is a former professor of history and geography and was once the
chief director of education of Djibouti. He was previously his country's
ambassador to Japan.

Tsikouris, 60, joined the Greek foreign ministry in 1974 and was director of
Department of Cultural Affairs in the ministry before his posting to Malaysia.

Rendon, 55, joined the Argentine foreign service in 1978 and had served in,
among other countries, Italy, Denmark and China before his posting to Malaysia.

Thana had served as Thailand's ambassador to France and the Netherlands
while Jozef Bekkers was the Netherlands' deputy head of mission to Turkey and
director of the Department of Social and Institutional Development of the
Netherland's foreign ministry before being posted to Malaysia.
