One dead, 54 positive swine flu cases in the national capital

New Delhi, Sept 11 (PTI) Even as India's national
capital Delhi reported its sixth death due to swine flu Friday
after a 38-year-old woman undergoing treatment at the RML
hospital succumbed to the disease, 54 more positive H1N1 cases
were reported here.

"One more case of swine flu death was reported from
RML hospital today. With this the toll due to the H1N1 virus
has risen to six. A total of 1,150 cases positive for swine
flu virus in the city have been reported till date, of which
1,008 patients have been treated and discharged," Dr Anjan
Prakash, nodal officer in-charge of swine flu in Delhi said.

The deceased, Rajbala, a resident of Faridabad who was
undergoing treatment at the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital since
September 5, had tested positive for swine flu.

The Medical Superintendent of the hospital said, "When
she was admitted to the hospital, her condition had almost
deteriorated. She died due to pulmonary edema and acute
respiratory distress syndrome."

He said that of these 54 cases identified in the city
Friday, 26 cases were children.

Meanwhile, the condition of two patients admitted in
two different hospitals -- RML Hospital and Lok Nayak Jay
Prakash Hospital are critical. They are admitted to the ICUs
of the respective hospitals.

These 54 positive cases of H1N1 Influenza have been
reported from different hospitals which include RML,
Safdarjung, Airport, DDU, Lok Nayak, Pt Madan Mohan Malviya,
GTB and other hospitals.

At present 142 cases are under treatment at various
hospitals, out of which 22 cases are admitted and rest are
undergoing home quarantine. PTI SWT
