Two cops among three killed in IED blast

Srinagar, Sept 12 (PTI) At least three persons - two
policemen and a woman - were killed and 15 others injured when
a police vehicle carrying detenues was blown to pieces as an
improvised explosive device (IED) planted by militants in a
car went off in this north Indian city on Saturday evening.

The casualty figures are feared to go up as the vehicle
was blown to pieces, a police official said.

Pro-Pakistan Jamiat-ul-Mujahideen militant outfit claimed
responsibility for the blast.

"The IED was triggered by activists of JUM", a spokesman
of the outfit telephoned news organizations shortly after the
explosion. PTI
