AZERI MPS MEET UK CONSERVATIVE PARTY MEMBERS

Baku, September 16 (AzerTAc). Members of the Azerbaijan Parliament, Milli Majlis, Samad Seyidov and Chingiz Asadullayev met visiting members of the UK Conservative Party.
Seyidov briefed the UK delegation on the work of the Milli Majlis, particularly its international relations.
He said Milli Majlis has successful cooperation with international organizations and foreign parliaments.
Seyidov noted representatives of Azerbaijan`s parliamentary delegation to PACE are members of the European Democrat Group in the organization, and they have close contacts with parliamentarians from both the UK and other countries.
He pointed out the relationship between Azerbaijan and the UK has reached the level of “strategic partnership”, adding the two countries` parliaments “have greatly contributed to this”.
Head of the Azerbaijan-UK working group on interparliamentary relations Chingiz Asadullayev praised the role of working groups in developing interparliamentary ties.
He said major British companies including BP made huge investments in Azerbaijan`s economy over the years since the signing of the “Contract of the Century”.
Asadullayev underlined dynamic development of Azerbaijan`s economy contributed to increasing the country`s international image and strengthening its position.
Head of the UK delegation Lionel Zetter said the purpose of the current visit is to discuss prospects for bilateral cooperation.
Zetter noted he is a member of one of the Azerbaijani communities in UK.
According to him, his country keeps close watch on the ongoing processes in Azerbaijan, and hails the economic development in the country.
