5 Russian tracking station personnel killed in Tajik road accident
MOSCOW, September 16 (Itar-Tass) - Five personnel from the Okno
optical-electronic space surveillance facility of the Russian Space Troops
died in a road accident in Tajikistan, Space Troops spokesman Lt-Col
Alexei Zolotukhin told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.
"The road accident occurred on Tuesday. A Tajik truck which had no
license plates, rammed a Russian KamAZ truck during overtaking. The KamAZ
overturned, and five people - one officer, one contract servicemen, and
three Tajik citizens - died," Zolotukhin said.
Igor Konashenkov, an aide to the Russian Land Troops commander,
categorically denied the reports that the car crash had killed servicemen
from Russia's 201st military base in Tajikistan.
"There have been no road accidents involving servicemen of the 201st
base or the death of servicemen," Konashenkov said.
