Medvedev to meet Crown Prince of Liechtenstein

MOSCOW, September 17 (Itar-Tass) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev
will receive Crown Prince Alois of Liechtenstein in the Barvikha residence
on Thursday.
The conversation will dwell on bilateral trade, economic and cultural
cooperation and expansion of joint actions in financial monitoring and
taxes, a Kremlin administration source told Itar-Tass.
"Special attention will be paid to coordination of the two countries
international positions, including a possibility of signing an agreement
on the creation of a free trade zone between Russia and the European
Association of Free Trade," the expert went on to say.
In 2008, the trade turnover between Russia and Liechtenstein stood at
64.5 million dollars. It dropped by 11.9 percent compared to 2007.
The crown prince's visit is timed to coincide with the opening of an
exhibition "The Bidermayer Art from the collection of the Princely House
of Liechtenstein" at the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts.
The exposition features more than 90 works (pictures, water colors,
drawings, chinaware) of the leading Austrian painters of the Bidermayer
era of the first half of the 19th century. Works from the collection of
Liechtenstein princes are being displayed in Russia for the first time.
In 2009 Russia and Liechtenstein will mark the 15th anniversary of the
official establishment of diplomatic relations.
The Principality of Liechtenstein maintains permanent neutrality in
its foreign policy. Liechtenstein has been an OSCE member since 1975 and
of the Council of Europe since 1978.
In 1990 Liechtenstein was admitted to the United Nations. It actively
works in the U.N. bodies that specialize in humanitarian issues.
Russia and Lichtenstein hold similar views on most international
issues. That creates the basis for interaction at the United Nations and
other international organizations on problems like counteraction to
terrorism and organized crime as well as humanitarian projects.
Crown Prince Alois is an elder son of the ruling Prince Hans-Adam II.
He has been the acting head of state since August 2004 following a decree
by Hans-Adam II.
Prince Maximilian from Liechtenstein's ruling dynasty is staying in
Moscow together with his brother - Crown Prince Alois.
Apart from Crown Prince Alois, President Medvedev will also meet the
leaders of the United Russia party in his countryside Barvikha residence.
The party will submit its proposals on candidates to the governors of
several Russian regions.
