Genocide was carried out in South Ossetia - Djelic

TSKHINVAL, South Ossetia, September 17 (Itar-Tass) - The Vice-Speaker
of the Serbian parliament Bozidar Djelic on Wednesday visited Tskhinval as
a member of a joint delegation of the parliaments of Russia, Serbia,
Bulgaria, Romania and Ukraine.
"I didn't see what I saw here during the wars which tore my country
apart into several bits. Schools, hospitals and other civilian facilities
were not destroyed in Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina or Kosovo. It's clear
that genocide of the South Ossetian people was carried out," Djelic went
on to say.
Dragomir Stroinev, a deputy of the Bulgarian People's Assembly, was
also impressed with what he saw. He compared the destruction of Tskhinval
to the consequences of wars in the Lebanon and Kosovo.
"It's the first time that I was to that place, and I was shocked with
what I saw. I've been to the Lebanon and Kosovo but nowhere have I seen
anything like that," the Bulgarian deputy said. He said it was unfair that
Russia was the only source to finance the reconstruction of South Ossetia
and said that Europe should also help.
Nikolai Levichev, the head of the Just Russia party faction at the
Russian State Duma, called on his European colleagues to exert efforts to
enable South Ossetia to appear on the world map.
"It's totally unacceptable that the status of semi-recognized states
lasts for years. Frozen conflicts like this lead to internal instability
of a country and create tensions in the world. They also provoke
politicians like (Mikhail) Saakashvili to launch an aggression," Levichev
emphasized.
