AZERBAIJAN SET TO EXPORT GAS TO CHINA
Baku, September 17 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijan may join the Kazakhstan-China gas pipeline project (AGP) project in the future, said President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) Rovnag Abdullayev.
“At our meeting, President of Kazmunaygas Kairgaldi Kabildin suggested Azerbaijan joining the project to export gas to China,” said Abdullayev.
Azerbaijan can consider this project after reviewing the necessary volumes of gas and outlets.
Kazakhstan is planning to commission the first gas pipeline to China by the end of 2009. The “Kazakhstan-China” (AGP) pipeline project is a part of “Central Asia” (CAGP) project which is a special transit system for transportation of gas throughout three countries: from Turkmenistan deposits through Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan into China.
Turkmenistan is poised to start the export of 5 billion cubic meters of gas to China in 2010. Uzbekistan is also expected to join the project.
