"The main objective of the festival is to bring all
communities on one common platform with a mandate to spread
awareness and knowledge of South Asian culture and traditions
amongst various communities and mainstream Canada and pass
these on to our youth who can take our heritage forward to
the next generation," Luthra, who is also the president
of the Indo-Canadian Chamber Commerce, said.

The scale and ambition of the Mahautsav are truly
spectacular. The venue of the show will have as many as 100
vendor booths to cater to visitors, she said.

South Asians constitute the largest expatriate
community in the Greater Toronto Area. It is estimated that
within the next decade, every sixth Canadian citizen will be a
South Asian. PTI
