A number of dignitaries highlight the anniversary of the Saudi


Riyadh, September 22, SPA -- A number of local and foreign
dignitaries and news agencies today highlighted the 79th anniversary
of the Saudi national day together with the official opening of King
Abdullah University for Science and Technology (KAUST) in Thuwal,
Saudi Arabia, scheduled for tomorrow.

In interviews with and statements to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA),
they paid tribute to the founder of the Kingdom late King Abdulaziz
bin Abdulrahman Al Saud who laid the pillars of the miracle of the
desert followed by his sons: late King Saud, late King Faisal, late
King Khalid, late King Fahd until the current great era of the
Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al
Saud.
They highlighted the main stations in the rich history of
achievements of the Kingdom covering the economic, financial,
transport, educational, health, social, cultural, sports and youth,
touristy and media fields.
They considered the Kingdom an unprecedented example of a rapid but
perfect story of development in history.
In particular, they highlighted the wide leaps achieved during the
current era of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah
bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, citing the political, economic and diversified
reforms.
On higher education, a senior official mentioned that there are 24
government and eight private universities in addition to several
government and private colleges in the Kingdom.
He added that more than 70,000 Saudi students are on scholarships
studying wide-range fields of knowledge in different advanced
universities in the world.
On KAUST, they said the facility, also prepared on a record time,
was designed to provide yet a new opportunity for the people of Saudi
Arabia, the region and the world at large to explore new horizons of
knowledge.
