NEW YORK, September 23 (Itar-Tass) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev
and Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama did not discuss the
'territorial problem' in detail at their talks Wednesday on the sidelines
of the UN-sponsored global summit on climate change, Medvedev's aide
Sergei Prikhodko said.

"The two leaders reaffirmed their countries' readiness to work on the
solution of outstanding bilateral problems in the key of mutual respect,"
he said. "The problem of the /Southern Kurile/ Islands wasn't discussed in
detail."
Prikhodko pointed out the businesslike atmosphere at the talks,
recalling that they marked the first personal meeting between Medvedev and
Hatoyama.
