Three A/H1N1/ cases confirmed at school in Russia embassy in India
NEW DELHI, September 25 (Itar-Tass) -- The flu A/H1N1/ diagnose was
confirmed in three students from a school at Russia's Embassy to India on
Friday. The hospitalisation of the flu patients is not needed; they are
undergoing home treatment, Russian Charge d'Affaires in India Andrei
Sorokin told Itar-Tass on Friday.
"The disease develops in a light form. The patients are under
permanent supervision of our medics, all necessary medicines are
available," Sorokin noted.
Meanwhile, the medical examination exposed cold or flu symptoms in 46
schoolchildren of various ages. The classes were suspended at the school
of the Russian embassy as a precautious measure. The nearby kindergarten
was also closed for quarantine.
The Russian children have presumably caught the dangerous infection in
the Indian capital, where the A/H1N1/ virus has been spreading already for
more than three months. On the whole, about 9,000 swine flu cases have
been reported in India since the middle of May, about 280 people have died
of swine flu in the country.
It will be decided to extend or cancel the emergency measures at the
beginning of the next week depending on the situation development, Andrei
Sorokin said. All Russian embassy employees and members of their families
were strongly recommended to refrain fully from mass gatherings in the
next few days.
