Russia's idea of more regional currencies wins supporters-Medvedev.

PITTSBURGH, September 26 (Itar-Tass) -- Russia's proposal for
introducing into circulation a greater number of regional currencies has been winning every more supporters, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev told a news conference after the G20 summit on Friday.

"Nobody these days starts making skeptical faces any more when hearing
about this Russian idea. It is more than obvious," Medvedev said. "That
the ruble is to become more attractive first is a totally different
matter. It is a task for us to address."

.Macroeconomic monitoring to help warn of crises in advance-Medvedev.

PITTSBURGH, September 26 (Itar-Tass) -- Mechanisms of monitoring
macroeconomic situations in other countries - one of the issues discussed
at the G20 summit - will help create a system of early warning of
financial crises, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev told a news conference
after the summit.
"If we are to feel this (crisis development) in advance, we must study
each other's state of affairs ourselves," he said. "This will help
establish an early warning system."
"Once we have translated this idea into reality, we shall have a far
more transparent situation," Medvedev said with certainty. "The idea is it
is not only the IMF that should keep an eye on situations in different
countries, but the countries concerned as well. Also, they should feel
free to discuss with each other the problems that there exist."

.Medvedev issues special statement on Iran's nuclera program.

PITTSBURGH, September 26 (Itar-Tass) -- Russian President Dmitry
Medvedev issued a special statement regarding Iran on Friday.
This is the full text of the document.
"Of all regional problems I would like to especially emphasize that of
Iran. As we stated in New York two days ago, we are unanimous in our
determination to start negotiations on concluding within the tightest
deadlines a comprehensive and long-term agreement with the aim to settle
Iran's nuclear problem.
"At the same time today's situation requires special attention. In
their recent message to the IAEA the Iranian authorities confirmed they
are in the process of building a new uranium enrichment plant. The
information to the effect Iran has for several years built an enrichment
facility near Qum without the IAEA's knowledge is a source of serious
concern.
"The construction of a new uranium enrichment plant runs counter to
repeated demands by the UN Security Council to the effect Iran should stop
its enrichment activity.
"The Russian side together with its partners believes that the IAEA
should look into the matter without delay in the context of the inspection
activities regarding Iran's nuclear program. Within the framework of the
liabilities Russia assumed as an IAEA member we shall promote such an
inquiry with all possible means available to us. We are calling on Iran to
fully cooperate with the IAEA in conducting this investigation.
"Russia remains committed to the fundamental dialogue with Iran with
the aim to achieve an agreement on effective means of lifting the
international community's concerns over that country's nuclear program.
Indeed, the newly discovered evidence to the effect Iran is building a new
enrichment plant merely multiplies our determination to achieve concrete
and verifiable results in the near future.
"The international sextet, of which Russia is a member, and Iranian
officials are scheduled to hold a meeting on October 1. This meeting will
give Iran a chance to demonstrate that it is determined to finding a
negotiated solution of that problem. That will be possible, if Iran
approaches the Geneva meeting with the readiness to focus on the nuclear
issue, take practical steps to restore trust to its nuclear program and
ensure its transparency, as well as to demonstrate the readiness for
full-scale cooperation with the IAEA. We are hoping, that Iran in the wake
of the newly-discovered evidence concerning the construction of a new
enrichment plant will provide convincing proof of its intention to develop
nuclear power exclusively for peaceful purposes."

.Mono-polar world crumbles down, US becomes aware - Medvedev.

PITTSBURGH, September 26 (Itar-Tass) -- Russian President Dmitry
Medvedev regards many processes at the UN General Assembly and within the
group of the world's twenty leading economies as signs the multi-polar
world structure is collapsing, and it is from this standpoint that he sees
the United States' desire to start addressing the global problem of
climate change.
Asked about changes underway at the top tier of world politics,
Medvedev told a news conference following the G20 summit in Pittsburgh the
current trends were predicted by many a while ago.
"Indeed, the mono-polar world is collapsing. Everybody is becoming
aware of this today. It is good that the understanding of this has
developed in the United States, too," Medvedev said.
"What will come of it? I believe there will emerge something better
than what we have today. So the question is not about who will be leading
what. If somebody, including the United States, gets more active in
addressing climate change issues - then it's just fine, because until just
recently the United States showed no wish to deal with climate issues at
all. Now it has demonstrated this intention."
Medvedev believes this is "excellent, because, as you may know, no
single country can make decisions regarding climate issues on its own."
"We have long formulated our position. If all countries fail to come
to terms when the Kyoto Protocol expires, then we shall stay out of it,
too. When it comes to climate, the question is to be put this way - either
everybody or nobody," Medvedev said. "That countries are becoming more
cooperative is very good. It's excellent. That's even better than the
mono-polar world, in which nobody cares about what the other is saying.
There is one boss, and everybody caters to the superior's likes. Let's
learn to listen to each other first."
