Investigators searching for suspects in Dagestan officials murders.

MOSCOW, September 28 (Itar-Tass) -- The investigators are searching
for suspects that can be involved in two high-profile murders of Dagestan'
s high-ranking officials.

On Sunday evening, at first in Dagestan deputy chief of the republican
Interior Ministry's criminal investigation department Lt. Col. Alimsultan
Atuyev and his nephew Lt. Abdulla Magomedgaziyev were gunned down. Just an
hour and a half later already in Moscow chief of Dagestan's Khasavyurt
district administration Alimsultan Alkhamatov was shot down from
submachine guns.
The law enforcement agencies do not rule out that both crimes are
linked. "This version is under investigation. It is noteworthy that both
crimes were committed in the course of two hours; the killed men are
Dagestan's high-ranking officials: the deputy chief police officer and the
district administration chief," a reliable source told Itar-Tass.
"Therefore, it cannot be ruled out that these crimes can be linked,
and it is not accidentally that the murders were committed on one day and
practically simultaneously," he said.
"It is already clear that professional killers are involved in both
murders; both crimes were apparently prepared thoroughly," the source told
Itar-Tass. According to him, the investigators are probing into several
versions, but the main version is linked with the professional activity of
the victims. "The work of the officials is considered as the main
motivation for the murders. Other versions are also not ruled out,
including personal revenge," the source said.
Chief of the Moscow Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General'
s Office Investigation Committee (SKP) Anatoly Bagmet noted that the
bodyguard of the killed chief of the Khasavyurt district administration
"survived and is testifying to our investigators." "At least four pieces
of firearms, including three submachine guns - two submachine guns Kedr,
were found at the crime scene. The driver of a vehicle, by which the
assassins escaped, was detained," he added.
A criminal case was instituted for murder committed by a group of
people under a preliminary conspiracy, attempted murder of two and more
people and the illegal storage of weapons, Bagmet said.
According to some reports, the criminals are presumably natives of
Dagestan.
The investigators assumed that a contract killer and an accomplice are
involved in the murder. One of the preliminary versions is that the murder
is linked with the professional activity of the victim. The special
interception plan is introduced in the city.
The Moscow law enforcement agencies established contact with their
Dagestani colleagues.
Deputy chief of the Dagestani Interior Ministry's criminal
investigation department Lt. Col. Alimsultan Atuyev and his nephew Lt.
Abdulla Magomedgaziyev were shot down at about 19.30 Moscow time in
Dagestan. Presumably three killers opened fire from submachine guns, when
their victims had just got into the car at Atuyev's house in order to
visit their relatives. The police officers died of wounds on the spot.
The law enforcement agencies told Itar-Tass that the best detectives
from the Russian Interior Ministry and Russia's SKP are involved in the
investigation of both crimes, and agents of the Federal Security Service
will also be involved in it. "All investigative measures targeted to
unmask the perpetrators and masterminds of the crimes are underway," the
source said. "The investigators are probing into the ties and contacts of
the killed officials, are searching for suspects that may be involved in
the masterminding and perpetration of the assassinations and are
questioning relatives, friends and colleagues of the killed officials," he
said.
Investigating groups are working at the crime scenes in Moscow and
Dagestan. "The police and the investigators are searching through the
scenes, collecting clues, as any of them, even the most insignificant one
at first sight may assist in the murder investigation," the source noted.
"No concrete suspects in these two murders have been detained yet,"
the investigators said. "In Moscow the police managed to detain a
Dagestani native, who is under investigation for complicity in the murder
of the Khasavyurt administration chief. The investigators have no concrete
guilty evidence against him," the investigation source said.

.Russia-Chile intergovt commission to discuss economic coop.

SANTIAGO, September 28 (Itar-Tass) -- The Russian-Chilean
Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation will begin
its 4th meeting here on Monday to discuss the development of bilateral
economic relations. The Russian delegation is headed by chief of the
Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision Sergei
Dankvert, who co-chairs the intergovernmental commission. A group of
Russian businesspeople will participate in a business seminar, which will
be held in the Chilean capital.
The intergovernmental commission will discuss joint projects in
agriculture, the power industry and the mining industry, education,
science and technologies, Counsellor of Russia's Embassy to Chile Galina
Kuznetsova told Itar-Tass. "The Russian-Chilean dialogue in the trade and
economic sphere has intensified substantially in the first half of 2009,"
the diplomat said. The last April's official visit to Russia of Chilean
President Michelle Bachelet was the main event during this period of time,
Kuznetsova said.
Several important bilateral projects have been developed in the first
six months of this year. Equipment supplies for Chilean hydropower plants
by the Russian companies Power Machines and Energomashexport are among
these projects. The countries opened up prospects for cooperation in
renewable energy projects, continue to develop the cooperation in the
transport and aircraft industries, Kuznetsova said.
"The global financial crisis affected the Russian-Chilean trade," the
diplomat said. In the first half of 2009 the mutual trade has dropped
sharply to 78.3 million dollars. Chile's exports in Russia amounts to 67
million dollars. Chile's biggest export supplies in Russia are fish, sea
products, fruit and wine. Russia exports fertilizers and metals in Chile.
Meanwhile, according to Kuznetsova, "There is a serious potential for
increasing Russia's exports in Chile and the imports from this country."
