UNECSO to host parliamentary conference, partners` forum

MOSCOW, October 3 (Itar-Tass) -- A conference of parliamentarians and
a forum of UNESCO partner countries will be held as part of the
organisation's General Conference at its headquarters in Paris on October
3.
"Both events will be held by UNESCO for the first time and are called
upon to strengthen and diversify its ties with the broadest circle of its
partners, including civil society," the Russian Foreign Ministry said
ahead of the 35th session of the UNESCO General Conference.
The conference of parliamentarians will bring together over 100
representatives from the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the Latin American and
Pan-African parliaments, the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, and the heads
of the parliaments in Mauritius, the Republic of Congo and Romania, and
other parliamentary structures.
The conference, which will discuss the most pressing issues on the
UNESCO agenda, plans to adopt a declaration.
The UNESCO partners' forum will be attended by members of NGOs, funds,
associated schools, departments, clubs and UNESCO centres, national
committees for inter-governmental programmes, and UNESCO Goodwill
Ambassadors.
The final document of the forum will be submitted to the General
Conference.
