Since 1964, India has provided over USD 2 billion worth
of technical assistance to developing countries, including
neighbouring countries to whom assistance is administered
separately.

ITEC is the flag bearer of the Indian government's
technical cooperation effort, not only because of its wide
geographical coverage but also for innovative forms of
technical cooperation in which it has assisted other nations.

ITEC, which is essentially bilateral, has on several
occasions been used for financing trilateral and regional
programmes under the Economic Commission for Africa and Group
of 77.

Under the programme, India is also providing assistance
to AARRO (Afro Asian Rural Reconstruction Organisation) and
the G-15, in the fields of training and project support and
has also begun cooperation with Southern African Development
Community (SADC).

The programme includes training in India of nominees of
ITEC partner countries, project related activities such as
feasibility studies and consultancy services, deputation of
Indian experts abroad, study tours and aid for disaster
