Pak must take credible action against terror groups: Tharoor
Dubai, Oct 9 (PTI) Pakistan must take credible action
against terror groups behind Mumbai attacks, Indian Minister
of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor has said adding
that India has been a victim of terrorism.
"The 26/11 attacks and those at the Indian embassy in
Kabul last year hampered the composite dialogue process that
was on between the two countries. The onus is on Pakistan,"
Tharoor said at a function organised by the Indian Community
Welfare Committee (ICWC) in Dubai.
Wrapping up his 5-day Gulf tour with this function at the
Indian consulate in Dubai, the minister also condemned the
bombing that took place in front of India's embassy in Kabul
Thursday.
"Such attacks are a reminder of the dangers we face in
Afghanistan even though our role is only positive and
constructive and is only aimed at helping the people of
Afghanistan," he said.
On the India-Gulf relations Tharoor said besides
historical ties going back to centuries, there has always been
an energy security aspect attached to India-Gulf relations.
"We now have to add an investment dimension to the
relationship between India and the Gulf region," he said.
Talmiz Ahmad, India's ambassador to the UAE, said
community welfare is the backbone of our diplomatic efforts in
the UAE. "We have an added responsibility of looking after
hundreds of thousands of workers and we have to have a zero
tolerance towards complaints against them," he said. PTI
