Moscow universities respond to Nursultan Nazarbayev’s lecture

Moscow, October 13, 2009 (Khabar) - Leading scholars from the Moscow State University and the Moscow State Institute of International Relations called Nursultan Nazarbayev’s lecture as a Kazakhstani know-how. An increase in the intellectual potential of the nation, according to scientists, is the basis for a fully operating modernization of the country. According to Russian university teachers, the world has been actively using universities as the floor to announce serious foreign policy initiatives. In particular, Winston Churchill announced the idea of uniting Europe at a Swiss university while the implementation of the plan began at the University of Harvard. Now, such a trend is followed by the most dynamically developing countries, say Russian analysts.

Andrei Baikov, scientific fellow, post-soviet studies centre, Moscow State Institute of International Relations:
- Of course, it is a sign of progressive thinking aimed at the development of public institutions. Only by means of talking to the youth and getting a full feedback from the youth, one can count on the development of the state and society will be positive. If there is no innovative development and guarantees that such crisis will not cut the sustainable development unlike economic slowdowns which could see in some CIS states.

Aleksei Vlasov, director, Information and Analysis Centre, Lomonosov Moscow State University:
- Human capital should be used for the development of innovative technologies and the so-called smart economy and knowledge economy of the 21st century. I think the lecture delivered by the president is topical for the youth of Kazakhstan which should clearly understand which state priorities should be placed in the centre of national policy in both economy and social spheres within the next 5 or 7 years.
