Laos-Myanmar further co-operation on sports

(KPL) A memorandum of understanding (MoU) to further co-operation on sports development of Laos and Myanmar was signed here yesterday between Mr. Phouthong Seng-akhom, Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office and President of the Lao National Sports Committee and Brig-Gen Thura Aye Myint, Chairman of the Myanmar Olympic Committee and Minister of Sports.
According to the MoU, Laos and Myanmar will strengthen and widen their co-operation based on the principle of mutual respect and equality and mutual benefits in sports development. The sports leading officials of the two sides will enhance their co-operation through regular meetings to review and exchange knowledge on sports development.
The sides will have an annual exchange of visits of high-ranking officials to share skills and experience on sports development. The host will be responsible for providing accommodation, food and local transportation.
The two sides also agreed to enhance their cooperation on sports development in the border areas of the two countries and will work together to combat against drug usage and bad behaviour of athletes in sports games. The sides also agreed to promote the sports association and sports training center of the two countries to enhance their co-operation by exchanging experiences and information.
