Pipeline bridge collapse: Railways announce compensation



New Delhi, Oct 23 (PTI) India's Railway Minister Mamata
Banerjee has announced compensation packages for those
affected in the mishap when a pipeline bridge fell on a local
train in India's commercial hub Mumbai Friday.

The compensation announced includes Rs five lakh for the
next of kin of the dead, one lakh for the seriously injured
and Rs 10,000 for people with minor injuries.
Senior officials are monitoring the situation, Railway
Ministry officials said here.
A portion of the under-construction Kopri water pipeline
bridge on the suburban Mulund-Thane route fell on a local
train, killing one and injuring 11 persons in the morning.
Rail services on the Central line were disrupted due to
the incident, crippling trains between suburban Kurla and
