Indian mission in US appoints Peshawaria as legal adviser
Washington, Oct 24 (PTI) The Indian embassy here has
appointed California-based renowned attorney Anu Peshawaria as
its Legal Professional Adviser.
Peshawaria, also a social activist and former athlete, is
the younger sister of Kiran Bedi, India's first woman to
become a member of the Indian Police Service(IPS).
In her capacity as the Legal Professional Adviser to the
Indian embassy, Peshawaria would not only give legal advice to
the mission here, but also to all Indian consulates in the US
situated in New York, Chicago, Houston and San Francisco.
Two more Indian consulates – Atlanta and Seattle – are in
the pipeline.
Peshawaria, an internationally-known attorney, recently
wrote a book, 'The Immigrant's Dream', to help prevent
fraudulent marriages in the NRI community.
She is also founder of Seva Legal Aid in the US, with its
head based in California. PTI LKJ
