Russian, Chinese FMs discuss bilateral political contacts.
MOSCOW, October 28 (Itar-Tass) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei
Lavrov and his Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi have discussed a schedule of political contacts for 2010, a representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry reported on Wednesday.
They coordinated "additional measures to be taken for putting into
effect the agreements, reached during the visits on the level of heads of
state and government, which took place this year."
The two ministers discussed in detail the questions to be included in
the agenda of the coming meeting of the Russian and Chinese leaders, to be
held in November within the framework of the APEC summit in Singapore.
Special attention was paid to "the coordination of actions for overcoming
the current global crisis of the financial and currency system and
preparations for celebrations on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of
the end of World War II."
Lavrov and Yang Jiechi discussed in a preliminary way the schedule of
political contacts for 2010. Concrete proposals will be submitted for the
consideration of the Russian and Chinese leaders.
They outlined "further coordinated actions of Russia and China in
promoting a political and diplomatic settlement of the situation around
the nuclear programme of Iran and the nuclear problem of the Korean
Peninsula."
Yang Jiechi conveyed to Lavrov an invitation to visit China in 2010,
which was accepted with gratitude.
The two foreign ministers met in Bangalore, India, on Tuesday within
the framework of a meeting of foreign ministers of Russia, India and China.
