Kim Jong-Il praises modernisation of heavy industry enterprises.

PYONGYANG, November 1 (Itar-Tass) - North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il
praised the level of updating heavy industry enterprises in the country,
the KCNA news agency reports on Sunday.
According to the news agency, the head of state visited recently
several renovated factories in the Pyongan-pukto province, western part of
the republic, and expressed deep satisfaction with what he saw.
"Our workers have created a production system, based on advanced
scientific technologies, as the new century necessitates and have reached
impressive progress in putting out machine-tools and instruments," Kim
stated. According to the North Korean leader, "the fact that the
engineering industry - the basis of the heavy industry of the DPRK - has
reached the ultra-modern level, shows what achievements the country's
economy has scored".
It is reported that the republican leader visited factories, putting
out measuring instruments, bearings and consumer goods. By the results of
the visit Kim called the enterprises "exemplary" and called on all to
emulate local workers.
The North Korean leader was accompanied in his trip by Kim Ki Nam,
secretary of the WPK central committee, Jang Song Thaek, department
director of the WPK Central Committee and Pak Nam Gi of the WPK Central
Committee accompanied the top leader on the visits.
