Israel's Netanyahu urges hard work for sake of peace.
JERUSALEM, November 7 (Itar-Tass) -- Although the chances of starting
talks with the Palestinians right away look rather slim, if at all, every
effort must be exerted for the sake of achieving accord, Israel's Prime
Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Itar-Tass in an exclusive interview.
About the outlook for resuming full-scale Palestinian-Israeli talks
the Israeli prime minister said "every effort must be exerted for the sake
of achieving accord."
"At this moment in time there is no realistic opportunity for starting
such talks, but a greater share of society I represent does have certain
determination to achieve accord, and, in the final count, to achieve
peace. I would like to see the same desire on the opposite side."
"Firstly, I would brush off prejudice, take a seat and start talking,"
Netanyahu said. "Secondly, since we are asked to recognize the existence
of the Palestinian state, I am addressing the Palestinian leaders in the
first place with a request to recognize Israel as the native land of the
Jewish people. I believe it would be wrong to call Israel just a Jewish
state. Every Jew has the right to return to the home country, and,
alongside this, every Palestinian has the right to return there, too."
The Israeli prime minister voiced the hope that "some Palestinian
leaders will be able to speak about their own people in the same way I
have talked about my own for the past few months."
"You are asking me what is it that makes the difference between my
current premiership and the previous one? The distinctions are tremendous.
There is far more analysis and patience, when it comes to matters of
importance: But the main quality of a leader today should be the
resolution of one's heart. Not for the sake of security, but for the sake
of peace. I do hope that my supporters and I do have this sort of
resolution," Netanyahu said.
"I would very much like to see the same determination on the
Palestinian side - the determination to say - everything is a bygone. We
are asking for the recognition of our sovereignty, but at the same time we
recognize the state of Israel. We say good-bye to our conflict. I am
looking forward to the emergence of the Palestinians' own equivalent of
Sadat, of a new King Hussein who will put an end to the conflict," he
remarked in conclusion.

Power - a joint project of Itar-Tass and television channel Rossiya - on

.Probe launched into loss of Pacific Fleet's anti-sub plane.
VLADIVOSTOK, November 7 (Itar-Tass) -- A special inquiry has begun
into the loss of the Pacific Fleet's anti-submarine plane, the fleet's
public relations service said on Saturday. All of the Pacific Fleet's
planes have been grounded for the time being.
A Tu-142M3 anti-submarine plane went missing during a training flight
over the Tatar Strait on November 6, 2009. It had eleven crew members on
board. The plane disappeared from the radar screens at 21:15 local time
(14:15 Moscow time).
Aircraft of the 11th air defense army and a helicopter and Pacific
Fleet ships were dispatched to conduct a search operation. Civilian ships
were asked to join in. The first naval vessel approached the area of the
crash at 01:01 local time and at 02:30 a panel of inquiry under the
commander of the Pacific Fleet's Air Force and Air Defense arrived at the
airbase of the missing plane.
"By now the plane's debris have been found at the expected spot,
approximately 15-20 kilometers away from the mainland," the Pacific Fleet'
s public relations service said.
.Russia, Israel may tap amazing economic potential - Netanyahu.
JERUSALEM, November 7 (Itar-Tass) -- Cooperation by Russia and Israel
in the modern economy may tap a potential nobody has ever guessed
possible, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Itar-Tass in an
exclusive interview.
Asked about the outlook for bilateral cooperation, the Israeli prime
minister said, "Will you be able to name a country other than Israel where
there are more citizens who are connected with Russia, who speak Russian,
who know Russia, and who have grown on its culture? The Russian citizens
who have resettled here have made a great contribution to the Israeli
culture, science and the economy. There is a popular bridge linking our
countries. The same applies to everything that we can do together - in the
arts, in new technologies, and in the economy. This looks a limitless
space for activity. Migration from Russia to Israel is a great event for
me. During my frequent visits to Russia I invariably felt that the Russian
leaders are aware of this. There is a natural bond between us. Together we
can achieve a lot, in agriculture and in technologies."
Netanyahu paid special attention to the outlook for bilateral economic
cooperation.
"Ours is an era of technological prosperity, of opportunities we have
never dreamed of. These opportunities are a direct product of the human
brain. The ability of certain countries to make smart products, products
that keep the technological progress going is a certain treasure," he
said. "Russia today enjoys endless opportunities. I believe that we have
them, too. It is cooperation between us that can highlight certain things
in the sphere of the modern economy nobody has ever fancied possible."
"I believe that nobody has better opportunities for tapping this
potential than we do. Take agriculture. Russia has a vast territory. We
don't. We are a thousandth fraction of what Russia is in area. Russia has
land, it has fresh water resources, and many other things. Let us pool
efforts!" Netanyahu said. "You will be able to feed half of the world,
provided you have progressive farming. There is no end to the
opportunities I dream of. Let us make the dreams come true, let us tap the
opportunities, let us use the popular bridge that connects us, a bridge
that links people with the CIS background."

.France hopes for Sarkozy-Medvedev meeting in Berlin Nov 9.
PARIS, November 7 (Itar-Tass) -- The French side hopes the presidents
of Russia and France Dmitry Medvedev and Nicolas Sarkozy will meet in
Berlin on November 9 on the sidelines of festivities timed for the 20th
anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Elysee Palace said in a
statement on Friday.
The Russian and French leaders will attend the ceremony timed for the
anniversary of the historic event alongside Germany's top officials -
President Horst Koehler and Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel, as well as
US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and British Prime Minister Gordon
Brown.
Earlier, Russian presidential aide Sergei Prikhodko said there were no
plans for a separate meeting with the hostess of the events in Berlin,
Chancellor Merkel, but the opportunity for a rendezous with French
President Nicolas Sarkozy was being explored. The Russian foreign policy
expert recalled that such meetings "failed to take place twice this year -
at the G8 summit in L'Aquila and at the G20 summit in Pittsburg - both
times for reasons independent of the Russian side."
