Speaker of Russian parliament`s upper house to visit N Korea.
MOSCOW, November 23 (Itar-Tass) - Speaker of the upper house of
Russian parliament, Sergei Mironov, leaves for an official visit to the
Democratic People's Republic of Korea Monday.
"I think it's a very important fact that the North Korean leadership
invited me to visit their country," Mironov told Itar-Tass. "I accepted
the invitation with pleasure."
He said he visited Pyongyang in September 2004 and the meetings he had
then at various levels, including ordinary citizens produced a bright
impression on him.
"It's important to continue strengthening contacts and to conduct
dialogue on a broad spectrum of problems," Mironov said.
He indicated that "all the necessary agreements" had been reached
during the previous visit and this inspired the hope that the upcoming
visit would also be fruitful.
"Russia is a Eurasian state and it pays great attention in its
politics to the Asian vector, and that's why we must have relations of
partnership with all countries, including the ones located in the Far
East," Mironov said.
