FC Speaker visits DPRK to discuss relations, int`l issues.

PYONGYANG, November 24 (Itar-Tass) - Sergei Mironov, Speaker of the
Federation Council (FC) upper house of the Russian parliament, arrived in
the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Tuesday to discuss
matters of current importance concerning bilateral relations and
international problems.
The Korean Central News Agency had reported on Sunday that the trip
would be made at the invitation of the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA) --
the unicameral parliament of the DPRK. Mironov is expected to meet with
Choe Tae Bok, Chairman of the SPA and Secretary of the Central Committee
of the Korean Workers' Party, as well as with Kim Yong Il Chairman of the
DPRK Cabinet of Ministers.
In November last year, Choe Tae Bok visited Moscow and during a
meeting with Mironov suggested establishing regular exchanges of
parliamentary delegations between the two countries.
It is planned that the FC Speaker will visit the Russian Center at the
Pyongyang-based Institute of Foreign Languages, lay a wreath at the
monument to the Soviet servicemen, and present an icon to the Orthodox St
Trinity Church, the only one in the People's Republic.
It has become known here that the Russian delegation also includes
Alexei Borodavkin, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, who represents
Russia at the six-country talks on the nuclear problem on the Korean
Peninsula.
