Presidents: Iran-Brazil cooperation necessary for designing new world order

Brasilia, Nov 24, IRNA – The Presidents of Iran and Brazil stressed the need for designing a new world order, reiterating the call for world countries’ efforts to establish justice, peace and wellbeing for mankind.

After over three hours of private talks on expansion of Tehran-Brasilia relations, regional and world developments, Presidents Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva elaborated on the implementation of reached agreements and achievements of their negotiations at a press conference in Brasilia on Monday.

Both presidents were agreed on the point that the United Nations, due to its impotence in resolving major world crises, requires deep and broad reforms, particularly in the structure of its Security Council, so that it would become competent in meeting the demands of the day of the international community.

Since today’s world is faced with major challenges, the occurrence of immense changes is therefore inevitable, the two presidents further noted, reiterating that the current international apparatus are incapable of not only resolving the political, but also the economic problems of the world, which is why cooperation of the entire world countries is needed for proper governance of the world and for eliminating the problems therein.

Ahmadinejad and Da Silva said that the horizon of the two countries’ relations is quite bright in various fields, emphasizing that the entire existing great potential for expansion of relations and cooperation between Iran and Brazil need to be exploited.

President Ahmadinejad appreciated the very warm reception of his Brazilian host, nation, and government at the joint press conference, noting, “The agreements signed between the two countries would pave the path for the blossoming of relations between Iran and Brazil in the near future.”

He further said that his visit to Brazil is the prelude to taking long strides in bilateral ties from both sides, stressing, “Today it was made clear that the distance between Tehran and Brasilia is as far as merely a will and that Brazil is an appropriate connection ring between Iran and the Latin American countries.”

Ahmadinejad pointing out that Iran and Brazil are two major and influential countries in two sensitive parts of the world, emphasized, “Iran-Brazil, due to their rich cultural and humane backgrounds, and their shared viewpoints on international relations, can play active roles in both designing and implementing a justice-seeking world order.”

He also stressed on the monopolized veto rights, as a root cause for global insecurity, reiterating that: “Iran welcomes the permanent presence of independent countries, particularly Brazil, at the UN Security Council.”

Ahmadinejad added, “Tehran and Brasilia emphasize that the entire world problems can be resolved by resorting to holding dialogs, justice seeking, ending aggressive moves and particularly heeding the need for global nuclear disarmament,”

For his part, the Brazilian President Da Silva, too, emphasized that Iran and Brazil are two major and large countries with identical development models, reiterating, “Brasilia-Tehran relations would be strong with great objectives to be achieved.”

Referring to the global economic crisis and the inefficient current world order, Da Silva said, “The current world order is incapable of resolving the global crises and the governments should cooperate in order to eliminate the major problems existing in it.”

Da Silva, pointing out that efforts are made aimed at the establishment of a world in which peace and stability would abound, said: “Brazil supports the idea of establishing an independent Palestinian country.”

He simultaneously announced Brazil’s readiness for broadening and deepening relations and cooperation with Iran in all possible fields./end
