Geneva (VNA) – A Swiss parliament senior official has said his country pins
much hope on the upcoming visit by State President Nguyen Minh Triet, scheduled for
May 2010, for further boosting the relationship between the two countries and the
two legislative bodies.

Handsruedi Wandfluh from the Committee for Economic Affairs and Taxation of the
Swiss Parliament’s National Council stated this during his working session with Vu
Viet Ngoan, Vice Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly’s Economic Committee
in Geneva on November 23.

The law makers shared their countries’ experiences in coping with the economic
recession. The Swiss side applauded Vietnam ’s economic policies and solutions
which have helped curb economic decline.

They agreed that the two countries have potentials to boost economic cooperation,
particularly in trade and investment.

The Swiss official said his country regards Vietnam , together with Indonesia ,
as the bridges for it to promote economic ties with the Association of Southeast
Asian Nations (ASEAN).

Earlier, Ngoan and his entourage studied Switzerland ’s financial system, its
economic stimulus packages and solutions and experiences in helping its economy
escape from crisis at a meeting with Nicolas Descoueudres from the Swiss Foreign
Ministry.

Arriving in Switzerland on November 22, the Vietnamese delegation is scheduled to
have working sessions with executives from the Credit Suisse Bank and the State Bank
of Switzerland on November 24.-Enditem
