Timoshenko says gas prices for consumers won`t hike.
KIEV, November 26 (Itar-Tass) - Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia
Timoshenko has said that 2010 gas prices for Ukrainian consumers will
remain at the 2009 level.
"Together with Russia we agreed on a formula of calculating the costs
of gas for the next ten years. Since January 2010 and at least in the next
six months gas prices won't hike for industry and the population,"
Timoshenko told the 5th channel of the Ukrainian television on Wednesday.
"This is called stability. The gas price has changed for the
population and the industry this year. We even established lower prices
for some industries," the Ukrainian prime minister added.
Timoshenko described as provocative the statements of other
presidential candidates who are building tensions over gas supplies. She
said that a delegation of Naftogaz Ukrainy is holding talks in Moscow with
a single goal to agree the volumes of gas deliveries in 2010.
Asked about gas agreements with Russia, Timoshenko said: "The problem
is not in bad contracts between the two countries. The thing is that
high-ranking politicians in Ukraine cannot reconcile themselves to the
absence of corrupt intermediaries. That's why they are trying to return
the RosUkrenergo company to the market by right or wrong."
