KPK OFFICIALLY STARTS INVESTIGATING ANGGODO
Jakarta, Nov 26 (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has officially started investigating the case of Anggodo Widjojo who had allegedly tried to bribe KPK officials on behalf of corruption suspect Anggoro widjojo, his brother.
Anggodo would be investigated on the charge of hampering the KPK's investigation of Anggoro Widjojo, a businessman suspected of bribery in the procurement of an Integrated Radio Communication System (SKRT) for the Forestry Department.
"An internal KPK document to begin the investgation has been signed by the commission's leadership," KPK spokesperson Johan Budi said here on Thursday.
With the issuance of the internal order, KPK investigators would soon summon a number of people involved in Anggodo's case.
"I cannot yet give more details on this case because, we are just beginning to investigate it," Johan said.
He said in the investigation, KPK would also coordinate with the National Police which had earlier questioned Anggodo several times to build up a case against him.
A group of people calling themselves "Team for Advocacy of the People's Voice against Criminalization" recently reported Anggodo to the KPK for hampering the anti-graft body's efforts to eradicate corruption.
The charge was made based on a tape recording played at Constitutional Court (MK) trial last November 3. The record contained phone conversations between Anggodo and several ranking law enforcement officials about an alleged strategy to frame two KPK leaders and undermine the anti-graft body.
According to the tape, Anggodo also tried to bribe several KPK officials to make them stop the anti-graft body's investigation against his brother, Anggoro Widjojo.
