100th anniversary of Garifolla Kurmangaliyev
Astana, November 28, 2009 (Khabar) - Astana has witnessed a concert devoted to the 100th anniversary of the outstanding Kazakhstan’s singer, actor and composer Garifolla Kurmangaliyev. He is referred to as being unique in Kazakhstan’s musical culture of the 20th century. His voice recordings are kept in the museum of rare voices in the Italian city of Genoa.
Mukhtar Kul-Mukhammed, Minister for Culture and Information of RK:
- He had an amazing voice, he grew from being an amateur singer to an outstanding opera singer. On the stage of the Abai Kazakh State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet he created a number of images in such operas as “Zhalbyr”, Yer-Tragyn”, “Kyz-Zhybek” and “Aiman-Sholpan”. He also performed in Moscow, Kiev, China, Iran and Europe.
On the stage of the presidential centre for culture, the students of Garifolla Kurmangaliyev, Kairat Kakimov and Kazhibek Bekbosynov performed the kyui for kobyz and the “Salem” song.
Meruert Kurmangaliyeva, grand-daughter of Garifolla Kurmangaliyev:
- Everyone was very happy that the students of Garifolla Kurmangaliyev are teaching in their region, which means that this tradition will be continued. It is interesting to note that the research of the art of both Garifolla and Mukhit is currently underway and researchers are finding new songs and new horizons of their art.
