Qurban ayt celebrated in Kazakhstan

Almaty, November 28, 2009 (Khabar) - On this day, the mosques of the country traditionally gather thousands of Muslims. They commit Ayt-prayer, after which celebration begins. Thousands of Almaty residents and guests have come to the Central Mosque of Almaty early in the morning to take part in the festive prayer. According to the canons of the Quran, celebrations begin immediately after Ayt-prayer. Under the rules, Kurban-Shalu, sacrifice rite is carried out just after the festive prayer. This rite can be performed on any of three days. A devout Muslim should divide the meat of sacrificial animal into several parts and distribute to the poor and orphans. Eid al-Adha (Qurban bairam) is one of the major Muslim holidays after Oraza Ayt and celebrated in 70 days after the end of fasting. Many devout Muslims try to make a pilgrimage to holy places Mecca and Medina during this period. Holiday embodies taking care for others and compassion for the needy. On this day, people need to forgive resentments and extend a hand of friendship to each other.
