RP775 THOUSAND MINIMUM WAGE NOT BURDEN BIZMEN: GOVERNOR
Bengkulu, Indonesia, Nov 29 (ANTARA) - The increase in the Provincial Minimum Wages or UMP to 775 thousand rupiah from 735 thousand rupiah per month in Bengkulu province in 2010 will not burden local businessmen, an official said.
The Bengkulu provincial administration will raise the UMP by about 40 thousand rupiah, the second assistant of the governor, Fauzan Rahim said here on Sunday.
One U.S. dollar is about 9,500 thousand rupiah.
Rahim said further that the Regional Wage Board has agreed on the wage increase effective next year, following tough discussions because it will not incriminate the business world and it is in conformity with the needs of today's levels.
"The increase of UMP in Bengkulu from 2005 to 2009 has reached 70 percent," Rahim said, adding that there was no problem after the increase.
According to him, the provincial government does not want the policy issue to adversely affect all parties.***
