Indonesian marines in S. Korea to learn to operate landing craft:

official
SEOUL, Nov. 30 (Yonhap) -- A team of 15 Indonesian marines is in South Korea to
learn how to operate and repair amphibious landing craft their country is set to
receive later this year, an official said Monday.

South Korea plans to provide for free a set of 10 decommissioned LVT7A1
amphibious landing craft to Indonesia in December to consolidate ties between the
two nations.
The Indonesian marines, including officers, have undergone training since last
Monday in the southeastern port city of Pohang, defense ministry spokesman Won
Tae-jae said.
The LVT7A1s, which South Korea's Navy stopped using last year, were purchased
from the U.S. in 1985 and are capable of carrying about a dozen soldiers each.
