RMAF MIG-29N JETS LAST AIRSHOW AT LIMA 2009
LANGKAWI, Dec 1 (Bernama) -- The Langkawi International Maritime and
Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA 09) from Dec 1-5 is expected to be the venue for the
last airshow of the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) MiG-29N before the jets are
phased out next year.
RMAF chief General Rodzali Daud said three MiG-29N jets would be used for
the airshow at LIMA 2009.
"The MIG-29N jets will be phased out in the RMAF inventory end of next year.
Therefore, this year's LIMA could be the last airshow," he told reporters here
Monday.
The Russian-made MIG-26 jets, which will be among 15 aircraft in the LIMA
2009 airshow, was bought by the RMAF in June 1994 for US$381 million.
Rodzali said the RMAF planned to replace the MiG-29N jets with the Multi
Role Combat Aircraft (MRCA).
