Climate Change discussion in Parliament on Thursday
New Delhi, Dec 1 (PTI) Lok Sabha (Lower House of
Indian Parliament) will discuss at length on Thursday the
issue of climate change, weeks ahead of a crucial meeting in
Copenhagen to decide ways and means to tackle the phenomenon
of global warming.
A special discussion has been scheduled in the Lower
House where the government is expected to state its stand of
not accepting any legally binding carbon emission cuts.
Indian Minister for Environment and Forests Jairam
Ramesh is expected to reply during the discussion.
Ramesh will represent India at the ministerial level
talks at Copenhagen on December 14 while the Danish Prime
Minister has extended an invite to Indian Prime Minister
Manmohan Singh to participate in the plenary on December 18.
Meanwhile, Congress steered clear of questions whether
the Prime Minister will travel to Copenhagen to participate in
the climate change talks. PTI SKU
