Savannakhet marks Independence Day
June 3 (KPL) - Savannakhet held a meeting to mark the 33rd anniversary of its Power Seize Day (31 May).
Held at Savannakhet Administration Office the meeting was attended by Prime Minister Bouasone Bouphavanh along with Party Central Committee and Vice President of the National Assembly, Saysomphone Phomvihanh, Party Standing Committee of Savannakhet, and authorities at all levels of the province.
Speaking at the ceremony, Savannakhet Governor Vilayvanh Phomkhe said "The 31st May Power Seize Day is a great victory and a great historic politic event. It is a historic day, which the residents of Savannakhet are unable to forget. This victory contributed to the national power seize and the foundation of the Lao People's Republic Democratic on 2 December 1975."During the meeting Mr. Bouasone urged the leading officials and people of Savannakhet firmly grasp the Innovation policy and the leadership of the Party and maintain the brave tradition of Savannakhet people.
On the occasion Prime Minister also presented First and Second Class Issara medals to leading officials, veterans and retired people of the province to honour their contribution to the national defence and construction during the past three decades.
