Vietnamese medics fly to Myanmar

Hanoi, June 4 (VNA) - A team of 15 voluntary medical experts will fly to Myanmar on June 4 to assist victims of Nargis cyclone.

The team has prepared about 2 tonnes of medicine and equipment for medical treatment and environmental sanitation. It will stay in the country until June 17.

Speaking at a ceremony held in Hanoi to farewell the medical team, Deputy Health Minister Dr Cao Minh Quang said he believed that with Vietnam 's experience in overcoming aftermath of the war and natural disasters, the Vietnamese medical experts will complete its international mission successfully.

The humanitarian work will help enhance Vietnam-Myanmar friendship, he said, adding that Vietnam is ready to send more medical experts to Myanmar .

Members of the medical team are from the Health Ministry, Hospital E, the National Dermatology Institute, the Central Hygiene and Epidemiology Institute, the Nha Trang Pasteur Institute, and the Central Malaria, Parasitology and Insectology Institute. -Enditem.
