"TASTE OF MALAYSIA" LAUNCHED IN DUBAI

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 5 (Bernama) -- Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism
Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob who is on a working visit to Dubai,
United Arab Emirates, Saturday launched the "Taste of Malaysia" programme at the

Movenpick Hotel in Dubai.

A ministry statement said the programme, jointly organised with the
Bumiputera Manufacturing and Service Industry Association of Malaysia, would be
on for a week.

"Sixteen of the companies market their products to a number of hypermarkets
and supermarkets in Dubai such as the Union Coop Hypermarket, Apsara
Supermarket, Families and E-Mart," said the statement which was faxed to Bernama
here.

The products include frozen foodstuff like delicacy, biscuits and
stationery.

The "Taste of Malaysia" programme which started in 2005 had been held at
other international destinations like Hong Kong (twice), Jakarta, Singapore,
London and Paris, besides Dubai (twice). It is a marketing programme for
products produced by Malaysian small and medium-scale industries (SMIs).


The statement also said that while in Dubai, Ismail Sabri would meet with
representatives of the Union Coop Hypermarket, owned by the biggest cooperative
in the UAE, besides officiating at the opening of the Malaysia Trading House.

The minister will also meet with wholesalers, retailers and senior officials
of hypermarkets and supermarkets in Dubai to promote Malaysian SMI products and
to ensure continuous demand for the products.

He is also scheduled to meet with Malaysians working in Dubai.
